Once upon a time, there were four boys who wanted to be famous. They
wanted to make music, sing in front of thousands of fans and have
loadsa number one records. And one day, their dream came true! They
landed that elusive record contract and became one of Britain's
biggest bands!
But despite all the good stuff - the number ones, the million selling
albums, the adoring fans - the boys began to discover that being a
pop star wasn't all 24 hour fun. They realised that even the best job
in the world has a downside.
Now, two and a half years later, the boys are about to release their
third album.
So are they ready for more of the good times, even if it means

So Lee, you still lovin' being a pop star?
I do enjoy the freedom to do my songwriting, my singing and
performing, but I don't really see myself as a pop star. People think
I'm always out clubbing but I hardly ever go out. I go to the studio -
that's it. I even spent my 20th birthday in the studio!
Do you get mad that you're always in the papers?
A bit, cos most of the time it's all rubbish. It only annoys me
because then I've got to explain the truth to people and I usually
haven't been up to anything in the first place! I don't want people
thinking I'm arrogant or a horrible person because I'm not. I've got
a lot of skeletons in my closet, good and bad, but I've worked hard
to get here and I'm proud of myself.
D'ya get it the most cos you're seen as the main singer?
Maybe that's it, but the thing is I'm not the lead singer. If the
lads weren't here it wouldn't be the same. All you hear is me
screeching, but I can't get the low notes.
How much of what the papers say is true?
There's one journalist in particular who makes up a lot of stuff and
I can't stand him cos he's vindictive. He's overstepped the mark with
me cos he printed my address. It doesn't bother me if it's just me,
but my mum and sister live there too and it's a proper rough area.
What if something happened while I wasn't there?
Does this business ever get you down?
I'm either really high or really low. I want to meet someone who will
cuddle up with me. The last time was Liz and then Carly, my
girlfriend after her. I still haven't really got over her, she was my
first love. She's in a girl band, too - imagine roadshows next year
with Liz and Carly both there!
Surely the fans must make it worthwhile...
It's amazing that people feel so strongly about something that I've
created, that makes me feel warm inside!

I've never been what the papers make out. I like to flirt and have
fun but I've got good morals. We're all very good people with got
hearts, not cheap, womanising love rats.
Did it upset you when they found out you and Anya were back together?
Yeah, they're always outside my house which I find really intrusive.
Anya doesn't like the life that I lead. She finds it a bit weird and
I worry that it's going to make her spin out, like before. She's just
a normal person and I want our relationship to be normal, too.
Is it hard to cope with the press?
There have been a couple of incidents that have been reported which
have been quite hard for us as a band to cope with. It's like a
battle sometimes, and it can leave you exhausted. But it also makes
you stick together and it can only make us stronger.
Sounds like you're a bit fed up...
When Blue is over, I'm not doing music again. I've had enough of this
industry. I don't like it, I want to get into acting, doing what I
love. I like singing, performing and being with the boys but I don't
like all the politics and the rubbish that goes with it.
But there must have been some massive highs in your career so far...
I'm grateful for what I've achieved, earning lot of money so I can
afford to buy my mum a nice house and a car. I try to treat all my
friends, too. We did a gig in Southampton and I paid for them all to
stay in a five star hotel.
Do you still get to catch up with your mates?
Sometimes, but I always miss birthdays. I phoned up my friend to wish
her happy birthday and she was like, "It's not my birthday till next
month!" I was convinced we were in December but she was
like, 'Duncan, it's October!'
D'ya mates understand your lifestyle?
Kinda. They do think it's glamorous if they ring me up and I'm doing
a photo shoot in LA. But then they also understand how tiring it is
cos of all the long hours and travelling.

What's the best bit about being a pop star, Ant?
I love meeting the fans and seeing them smile. The whole girlfriend
thing - who's got one, who hasn't, that doesn't really make any odds.
It's all about the music.
Do you get fed up signing autographs?
I was on holiday in Marbella with Lucy and that was quite hard. We'd
be at dinner and people would come to me and turn their backs on
Lucy. It's not me being moody, I'm just asking people to give me a
bit of respect. Any other time, I'll sign them all day long!
Do you get lonely when you're on the road?
I do. It's hard cos if you go to the hotel bar to have a drink then
you get hounded. Lucy trusts me 100% but if I call her up from a loud
place, she gets upset. I like to do my job, come back to my hotel
room and go to sleep. Times have changed and I've changed. Not for
the worse but I have grown up.
Has it started to feel like a proper job?
Maybe, but this is what I've been working for since I was 15 or 16,
and I want to do the best I can. Hopefully it will open more doors
for me and hopefully I can go on and do other things when Blue are
finished.
Do you get fans coming to your door?
When I moved in, the local radio station did a competition to search
for Ant Costa's house. I found that quite funny but at the same time
a little rude. Sometimes when I drive past and see 15 year old boys
outside my house, I get worried. What would happen if I was away and
Lucy was on her own?
Have people changed towards you?
Yeah, this is a classic! A week before the first tour started, this
family member who I've met three times in my whole life arrives at my
door with his kids. He was like, "How you doing Tone?", then asked
for tickets and backstage passes for the tour. I had two words for
him and they're unprintable!

What's the best bit about your job?
I wake in the morning and have a car waiting for me with a pillow in
it so I can go back to sleep, it's great! My life is so different
now. If I go to see my daughter, I ring our security and they'll get
me a bodyguard straightaway – that's just the way it is.
Blimey, do you always have to have security?
You just don't know what the next person is going to do. You get
blokes who have had a few beers and want to smack you, saying, "My
girl fancies you". I do know how they feel though. My ex used to
fancy Jodeci and I hated them cos of that!
Does the press ever get you down?
The tabloids don't support you, they're only there to knock you down.
They've got no respect for British artists. I watched a programme
where some tabloid busybody actually said, "This is what we do to
celebs, we make them, then we break them!" How terrible is that? It
makes me feel physically sick!
What sacrifices have you had to make for the job?
Women! They're my weakness! I don't think it's physically impossible
to have a girlfriend, but the pressure is on all the time. Maybe I
just haven't met the right person yet, but lately I haven't even
allowed myself to get involved. I took a girl out a few times, but it
wasn't serious, I just didn't want the papers thinking I was gay!
What about the bonuses of what you do though?
We get to help people. We're always doing what we can to raise money
for charity. And the free clothes are good! Versace gave me tickets
to a fashion show, flew me out and put me up in a plush hotel! We
were sat next to L'il Kim and I kept feeling something hitting the
back of my neck, I turned round to give the person a piece of my mind
and I realised it was her flicking her hair! Oops!

BODY LANGUAGES BASICS
These are pointers and are not neccessarily ironclad ways of telling if someone is being less than honest with you, how ever, they will help. Developing and following your instincts will always give you an added edge.
1 NO EYE CONTACT
Unless the person has nerves of steel and absolutely no conscience, it's likely he/she will not be able to make eye contact when lying. Hence the saying, "look me in the eye".
2 CROSSED ARMS
People know that on a concious level lying is wrong and, on a subconcious, will usually cross their arms in self-defence. It's a protective instinct when spouting untruths.
3 DILATED PUPILS
Lying is no walk in the park and can be quite stressful, so you'll usually see the person's pupils dilate - a sign of stress.
4 TOUCHING
Humans touch themselves for a reassurance, particularly when telling a big fat one. watch for hands scratching the nose, rubbing the eye and touching the mouth while lying.
5 NOD/SHAKE
The subconcious is a powerful thing and can at times give someone away, much as Homer Simpson's does all the time. People can actually say "yes" and nod "no" and vice versa. It's an involuntary action of covering up what they really think.
6 MUMBLING OR CHATTERING
If someone is hard to understand, they may be trying to avoid actually lying, look out for mumbling and fast, nervous chatter, For example:
Q "Where were you?"
A "I was at hrmsomen's place".
He/she did not clearly state the answer, thereby convincing themselves that they did not technically lie.

1997:: my first visit to the philippines::: it was my first time there (well not exactly my first time since i was born there. but we moved to the states when i was only 3. so i don't remember anything about the philippines).i didn't really know all my cousins but i met most of them....they were really cool........i knew how to speak tagalog but my aunts or uncles would speak to us in english.they would really make u laugh! well of course, we went to resorts and all that stuff and we did tons of shopping....but when we were gonna leave, my aunt started crying! i didn't want to leave at all, but i had too..
2000:: my second visit:: my cousins were all grown up ...and i was barely 10 years old...i had more baby cousins........well, this vacation was better than the last vacation since we had more fun.and more shopping! lol! oh ya, also my grandma bought a car..
2002::my third visit: well my older cousins are in college and i'm taller than my cousin who is one year older than me! wow..well this was the best vacation soo far since they finally built a new SM mega mall near our place in the philippines.....and my dad bought a new SUV over there.........even though no one drives it yet! oh ya...at this year i had a god daughter (my cousin)and i was only 12 years old! when we were going to leave i started to cry since, i didn't want to go back to the states since was fun staying there in the philippines.....while i was crying....my aunts started to cry too! there r more vacations to cum during the rest of my future years.......and the more i visit the more i like it there
